The Cumulative Volatility Index is a useful indicator, but it lacks ease of use (because the levels within it are not available).
This version of the indicator attempts to add more functionality by producing smoother results, in which case the slope of the cumulative volatility index can be used as an evaluation criterion for a sustained trend. The smoothing method used is JMA.
