coin toss theory
Hello everyone,
I want to tell you something about this strategy http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=494447 (more of a system because MM etc. are not included) I am a student, 19 years old, I study economics. I have been paper trading since I was 16 and live trading when I was 18. I saw a lot of strategies and systems, made my own based on other strategies and systems, and finally finished it after a lot of tweaking. Its monthly revenue is stable at x%. Every day I have to do the same thing, mentally prepare myself, read some upcoming news (I trade in technology); it makes me bored. I still love trading, don’t get me wrong.
Then I read this article about a month ago, http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...444377&page=79 From a mathematical point of view this is fairly easy, but in practice it's really hard, as is the case with math problems. I really like making things work, so I started looking for a basic working system for this and made my own from other systems (which I really recommend to beginners after they've read everything about Babypips).
Now I'm going to tell you why I'm posting this here. My system from scratch is almost identical to the one posted by the OP here http://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=494447.
rule:
- Major currency pairs are traded hourly, I only trade EUR/USD
- Trade on the second candle after the opening of the London session (so you are not disturbed by the opening breakout).
- Close the trade at the opening price of the candle
- Open a trade at the closing price of the candle
- Buy when the candle is bullish
- Sell when the candle is bearish
- No TP level
- SL is yesterday's high or low (depending of course if you are selling or buying).
More information about SL. I have an EA that closes trades instead of a fixed SL in case the broker stops hunting (I don't think they do that, but you never know). The EA closes the trade when the candle appears above/below yesterday's high/low. Therefore, it does not close the trade when price spikes within the range and retraces.
Because this is a very risky system, you can start with a very low bank. I started with $100 (one trade was the whole bank), almost everyone in the trading industry can afford to lose, and if you can't, you shouldn't be trading at all. I trade with a very high leverage of 1:2000. This isn't required, but I did it to see how I would react. If you want to trade at 1:2000, you need to have nerves of steel. Because the leverage is too high, I can't just use normal stop loss rules. My DD has to be 50% to use 1:2000, so I can only lose 34 pips (5 brokers, spreads are 5-8 pips, commissions are above average when you make winning trades, but zero commissions when you make losing trades, so that's really good!) I said to myself to use this rule after I get 500% growth, because I thought I would never succeed.

in conclusion :
I did it with real money because it was only $100. The next day my nerves were put to the test and I discovered that almost a margin call was no fun, of course I was filled with joy on the first day but on the fifth day I peed my pants. It was so painful to see such a big DD (which I knew before I started, but still...), especially with a large amount of money. The world stood still for a moment. So my first reaction that day was to take out all the money inside. 27k is still a big deal. I just keep writing on paper to see if I'm lucky, to see the pros and cons, etc. It's a big gamble. I wouldn't recommend it, but you will learn an important lesson in how you react in this situation and what your emotional drive is. Then the $100 is really worth it.
It is also worth mentioning that institutions are not everything, strategy is. As you can see, the entries are almost identical to flipping a coin. But what can you do with good Stop Loss and Take Profit levels, support and resistance levels (yesterday's high/low). Cut your losers and let your winners run. Use the leverage you can handle, good MM, etc.
Maybe I would open an account on a broker with lower leverage (like 1:200) which allows Forex Factory Browser
