The Cross Indicator is a practical technical analysis tool based on the crossover of two moving averages.

This MetaTrader 5 trading tool detects the exact moment a moving average crosses and displays entry/exit signals as colored points on the chart (moving averages are not displayed).

Cross indicators use two moving averages (short term and long term) to analyze price movements on different time frames.

This price action tool displays colored dots at intersections, used as entry/exit signals :

• Green Dot: Bullish crossover (buy signal);
• Red Dot: Bearish crossover (sell signal).

Uptrend Conditions

The image below shows the XAU/USD (Gold) chart on the 1 hour time frame.

When the short-term moving average crosses above the long-term moving average, a green dot appears, indicating buyer pressure and the beginning of an uptrend.

downtrend conditions

The chart below shows the BTC/USD (Bitcoin) pairing over a 15-minute period.

When the short-term moving average crosses below the long-term moving average, a red dot appears, giving a sell entry signal.

Cross indicator settings

The settings panel of Cross Indicator includes:

• Fast MA Period: short-term moving average period;
• Slow MA Period: Long-term moving average period.

Conclusion

The Cross Indicator is a price action-based analysis tool that uses moving average crossovers to identify entry and exit points.

Instead of showing a moving average, it uses colored dots above and below the candlesticks to generate signals.
