The U.S. Dollar Index ( USD Index , DX ) is an index (or measure) of the value of the U.S. dollar relative to a basket of foreign currencies (often referred to as a basket of U.S. trading partner currencies). The Index goes up when the US dollar gains "strength" (value) when compared to other currencies.
It is a weighted geometric mean of the value of the US dollar relative to the following selected currencies:
Compared to the USD Index indicator, this version is a little different: instead of displaying just one value, it displays the "open", "close", "high" and "low" of the USD index as candles in separate windows. This way you can see that the volatility within the USD Index bar changes as well and it shows values that are closer to our normal assumptions about how the index is formed.
