In his article: "Playing with TRIX: Trio Exponentially Smoothed Oscillators" Joe Luisi argues that using linear regression values as signal lines for TRIX is better than using slopes.
There is no attempt to prove or disprove that this is correct, this is the version that does so. The signal is not bad, but some parameter experimentation is recommended.
