A long time ago, someone made the DEMA (Double Smoothed EMA) indicator and called it Zero Lag EMA. Since then, the zero-lag designation is sometimes used for types that adjust the average to have a smaller lag.

This indicator uses the DEMA method to produce "zero lag" super smoothing. Since the super smoother already produces smooth results, the "zero lag" super smoother is also smooth and therefore already filters out quite a bit of the signal.
