In the article "RocketRSI — A Solid Propellant For Your Rocket Science Trading", author John Ehlers introduces a new perspective on the classic RSI indicator originally developed by J. Welles Wilder. Ehlers first introduced a new version of the RSI based on simple upward and downward accumulation that closed considerably better than average. To do this, he applied the Fisher transform. He tells us that the resulting output is a statistically significant peak, indicating that the cycle turns to a precise point.

All in all, in the terms we are used to, it's the RSI of Smoothed Moments (2-pole Super Smoother for Smoothed Moments). It may or may not deserve the name it's given, but it deserves to have a version that's identical to the original so we can all test what exactly it does.
