This "ribbon" indicator uses the EMA Change indicator originally published here (with more explanation): EMA Change
It uses the "speed" property of the EMA change indicator to construct a band. Even without changing the calculation period, this will cause the two indicators to cross.
As with any cross indicator. You can get interesting results when you use very close variations of "speed" (as in the example below)
