The calculation of RSI is quite simple: we have to add upward changes and downward changes. From these sums, we can calculate the RSI (relative strength index). In this particular step, Welles Wilder uses a method sometimes called Wilders EM to achieve smoother results, which gives us room to produce a variety of different RSIs by using different types of smoothing in the final step
It uses a super smoother for RSI calculations. It produces similar results to RSX (invented by Mark Jurik), but the differences are significant enough to qualify it as a separate RSI type
You can use it as any other RSI
