MH describes trend triggers pissing off technology Stock and Commodities Analysis Magazine, December 2004. Usually the indicator has some kind of smoothing added to filter out false breakout results.
It uses the average to filter out the price calculation before using it. This way, the added lag is smaller than when smoothing is used to calculate the result. Average values that can be used are the following:
Also, unlike the original version which used +100 and -100 levels as important levels for signal triggering, this version uses interrupted signal lines for trend filtering. This way it can respond better to market conditions

The usual "big picture example", with slightly different settings (as can be seen from the example) - as usual some experimentation with parameters is recommended before use in real trading
