Mean reversion is a channel indicator. It displays a channel consisting of three lines and a moving average on the price chart
It has two tunable parameters:
Highest = Maximum Lowest = Minimum value Median = (Maximum value + Minimum value) / 2
MovAvg = SMA (closing price, MA period)
Max, Min - the lowest and highest price in the range
Once the channel reaches the channel limits, a position can be opened in the direction outlined by the moving averages or towards the center of the channel. Therefore, this indicator helps in making position opening decisions in contrarian strategies, where prices are expected to revert to the mean.
