This is for the "purists"
For the sake of execution speed, the code example provided with Metatrader 5 calculates ATR (Average True Range) using an approximation of the Simple Moving Average (SMA) of TR (True Range). While it produces results that are very, very similar to a simple moving average, it is still not a simple moving average. This version is doing it (without approximate calculations) and it does it without slowing down - the execution speed will be the same for any calculated period. and it does not require any additional buffer allocation
