SMA (Simple Moving Average) is one of the less frequently adaptive moving averages. The reason is that it is related to the bar value (unlike EMA, which is used in numerous adaptive averages and can also use decimal periods), which makes the calculation a bit complicated and in some cases the results are "tight" - they tend to change slope quickly in certain periods.

This also makes its use a bit difficult: using the slope of such an average as a criterion for trading decisions will result in a "change of mind" on almost every bar - and that's not something anyone wants to do. This version offers a possible solution for this: since the adaptive SMA is "faster" than the "regular" SMA, you can use the crossover of the adaptive SMA with the conventional SMA as a trend criterion. The results seem acceptable
