Perry Kaufman's Adaptive Moving Average is based on an arrangement of indicator (signal) points based on the standard mean square deviation.
The signal points are interpreted as follows. If the market goes flat, the AMA indicator will sit horizontally and have no signal points. If the directional trend exceeds the mean square deviation, an appropriately colored point appears. This point is a signal for market entry or exit.
The following equation is used as the signal point positioning criterion:
AMA-AMA0 > Standard deviation (AMA-AMA0, period AMA)*dK
