This code was prepared in 2005. Unlike the original code, here the smoothing ratio is raised to a power. The power value is set by the G external variable (default is 2, as before). Several people have questioned the authorship of this value, although it doesn't make much sense here.
The main advantage of the Wellx version is the colored points that identify trends.
