It is formed by taking the highest and lowest points of the last n periods. The area between the highs and lows is a cycle channel selected with another powerful indicator called Moving Average Bands. 18 different plot moving averages of different lengths simultaneously on the chart.

Donchian channels and ribbons indicate market trend direction. When the current price is above the channel or ribbon, it should clearly indicate a bullish trend or buyers becoming optimistic and bulls overcoming bears, and when the price is below the channel or ribbon, it should clearly indicate a bearish trend or sellers/bears overpowering bulls.

Both the ribbon and the channel also act as dynamic resistance and support depending on where the current price is floating.
