Weighted Escalator - a weighted stoch sy
with actual indicators
I explain the following with a slightly modified explanation of the "escalator to point" strategy.
My template and first indicator are slightly modified versions of the template/indicator Viva published in the 13th article on the home page.
The new indicator is a small chart with the current score.
I call it a "weighted escalator"
In this template, there are 8 columns. The first 4 are M15, M30, H1 and H4 stoch, set to 5, 3, 3. The second group of 4 are M15, M30, H1 and H4 stoch, set to 14, 3, 3.
I read this chart by giving the H4 chart the most weight in the calculation (because it is the trend), while H1 still has a higher weight than M30, then M15. You add and subtract the scores for each chart to get the total score for that column. When the total number of bars is above 3, you buy. When the total number of bars is below -3, you sell.
Scoring is done like this:
M15 chart:
Spring Green = +1
lime green = 0
Fire Bricks = 0
Indian Red = -1
M30 chart:
Spring Green = +2
lime green = 0
Fire Bricks = 0
Indian Red = -2
H1 chart:
Spring Green = +2
lime green = +1
Fire Brick=-1
Indian Red = -2
H4 chart:
Spring Green = +4
Lime Green = +2
Fire Brick=-2
Indian Red = -4
Add up the scores for each section. The scores can be graphed like a moving average, but I just use my fingers to see what the scores are. Sometimes I do plot fractions on graph paper for analysis.
When to buy:
Buy when the score starts in negative numbers, passes through zero, and then reaches 3 or higher. For example, the scores are -8, -5, -9, -1, 0, 1, 2, -1, 0, 2, 3 [Buy]
When to go short:
Buy when the score goes from positive through zero to -3 or lower. For example, the scores are 13, 4, 12, 5, 6, 0, -2, -1, -2, 0, 1, 2, -5 [short]
when to close
===============
When buying or selling, I would open 4 positions (lot size of your choice) and set a stop loss if you wish. I close each one as follows:
First. Second with a profit of 10 points. 15 pip trailing stop third. This is my "other" plot. Close when you like, I closed after the first and second and it hit or went through the third one the "wrong" way (I recently decided this is my favorite)
fourth. Close when score reaches or exceeds 0
================
I've been handcrafting this chart for the past few months so far and it's proven to be profitable for me. Take a look at the diagram below and you'll see symbols like this:
Positive numbers are unfilled numbers, and negative numbers are filled numbers. In addition, green is a positive number and red is a negative number.
I have now attached the modified template and indicator.
