Ichimoku Kinko Hyo - ForexFactory #478663
Introduction
Ichimoku Kinko Hyo, usually just a call, is a technical analysis method based on candlestick charts designed to improve the accuracy of predicting price movements. It was developed in the late 1930s by Japanese journalist Goichi Hosoda, who was once known as Ichimoku Sanjin, which can be translated as "what the people of the mountains see." He spent thirty years perfecting the technique before releasing his findings to the public in the late 1960s.
Ichimoku Kinko Hyo translates as "At a Glance Balance Chart" or "Instant View Balance Chart" and is sometimes referred to as "At a Glance Cloud Chart" based on the unique "cloud" feature in an Ichimoku chart.
Ichimoku is a moving average-based trend identification system that provides a clearer picture of underlying price movements because it contains more data points than standard candlestick charts.
The main difference between Ichimoku and other methods of drawing moving averages is that Ichimoku's lines are constructed using the 50% points of the highs and lows (rather than the closing prices of the candles).
Ichimoku uses time as an additional factor in price action, similar to William Delbert Gann's trading philosophy.
