The Hodgepodge Trading System - MT4/MT5 Resources

This trading system and EA are inspired by the work of BigE (RIP), Emmanuel, tony-fx, wizlon32 and Abokwaik. It's a hodgepodge of respective systems, strategies, and opinions posted in these forums. Thank you to each and every one of you for your selfless investment in my Forex journey so far.

I started this post as a result of tony-fx's post (https://www.forexfactory.com/showthread.php?t=656770) but thought it would reduce the "purity" of his system, so separate threads would be more appropriate. This system essentially replaces tony-fx's trend filter (Ichimoku Cloud) with a moving average crossover on a higher timeframe. I trade on the H4 chart using the 5/8 EMA (Close Price) on the daily time frame. Additionally, I introduced BigE's 5-SMA-Typical-Shift3 as a trigger for signal candles. Echoing BigE, the Ichimoku filter leaves too much white space. The "semi-martingale" functionality is retained.



Disclaimer; I'm not a programmer, so while suggestions for improvements are welcome, updates are only regular - maybe once a month. Also, I don't currently have good/enough historical data to do extensive backtesting.

Indicators <br> Current Timeframe: Moving Average (5 Periods, Simple, Typical Price; Shift3)
On higher timeframes: Moving Averages (5 periods, index, closing price)
On higher time frames: Moving Averages (8 Periods, Index, Close Price)

Buy entry rules
HA breaks out and closes above 5-SMA-Typical (Transition 3)
On higher time frames, the fast MA is higher than the slow MA
Enter at the open of the next candle Close the trade when HA closes below 5-SMA (Transition 3) or HA changes color (according to Dean Malone Synergy)

Money Management <br> Position size: 0.1
Loss coefficient: +0.05
Stop Loss: Optional (automatic stop based on previous fractal high/low; manual stop; no stop)
Trailing Stop: Optional

Options/Features:

1. Stop loss, trailing stop loss, breakeven
2. Exit when HA color changes (according to Dean Malone synergy method)
3. Exit when HA breaks 5 SMA+Shift3
4. Re-enter on a false reversal candle. See post #165
5. Filters for higher time ranges:
   1. EMA Cross - six options for higher time range filters (H4 D1 W1 H4+D1 D1+W1 H4+D1+W1) with built-in indicators,
   2. Internal Bar - f or D1 transactions only. See post #13
