rocky reboot: revisiting rockypoint's re

This thread is intended to restart rockypoint's excellent thread. The reason I think this makes sense is
1) The original title of rocky's thread describes a system that has been left behind and replaced by rockypoint, a system that I and others prefer to the original system.
2) This leads to great confusion for those who find recent posts on rocky's posts, and then, when they go to page 1 to see what they missed, it looks completely different than the system we trade with today.
3) rocky's theme is completely inconsistent with the current system, which may deter some people from checking out the new system because maybe they looked at the original system a few years ago and found it not to their liking.
4) I believe the current system is robust and some people who may be looking for a system that may or may not prove to be the basis for a consistently profitable methodology may find it worth looking into, but given the forked nature of the current Rocky thread and its length may miss out on exposure to this great methodology.

I use Ninjatrader as my broker and trading platform. Here is my chart from today showing entry points and targets for a long EURUSD trade using 6E (a US futures contract that tracks EURUSD):

For Ninjatrader, the main indicator you need is the Heikin-Ashi indi, which can be downloaded for free from this source:

All indicators I use on Ninjatrader are free, except for "MA Crossover by Ninza", for this system I only use its "cloud" functionality, and it is completely unnecessary . I use it for purely aesthetic reasons and I would not recommend anyone to buy this system. In any case, I have no connection with the author of this indi. Here is my complete list of metrics from my time using the Rocky system as of June 29, 2023, highlighted in yellow:


You don't need all of this. I've been working on this Rocky system for almost a year (maybe a little longer), and as with any system, I've experimented and added things that I like to use. I encourage anyone who wishes to participate in this topic to experiment with the same and add his or her own customizations to the system if doing so will make your trading more comfortable and profitable. However... (there has to be a "but", right?).

However, with this system all you need is...
1) Two exponential moving averages: 8 EMA at the highest point and 8 EMA at the lowest point, forming an EMA band; and
2) The ability to apply Heikin-Ashi candles to Renko charts.
These are free for Ninjatrader users as well as MT4 and MT5 users.

I recommend that if you are new to this rock system that you do it at the most basic and beginner level first: using only 5 bricks and 8 ema strips with Heikin Ashi applied. Rocky uses an oscillator to highlight short-term support and resistance, and many may find it helpful to include this indicator from the start as well.

I'm not an expert on this or any system. Regardless, I don't believe my approach to Loki's system is the best and only approach. I welcome experimentation and innovation. If you compare my diagram shown above to one of rocky's diagrams, you'll see that I'm not shy about adding various indi's and components. However, anyone familiar with Rocky's method will immediately realize that my chart is 100% based on his method.

I encourage you to trade the market in which you are most comfortable. All I ask is that whatever changes you make to the system, you don't deviate from the brick shape of Heikin Ashi and the ema band. If you want to change the settings of brick shapes or ema, that's also possible. My only request is that no matter what changes we make, the result is a system that is still instantly recognizable as a rock 'n' roll Renko/Heikin-Ashi system with an ema band.

Finally, I want to thank rockypoint for sharing this system with us, and I hope he can join us here in the future as schedules and trades allow. All this is due to his system. I'm just a follower and take no credit. I would like to express my gratitude to Rocky and his efforts to help fellow FF traders.
