Trend Cycle Entry | Forex indicator download- MT4/MT5 resources

After so many years away, now back as a mature trader. I read a few old posts/replies and realized the journey. In my time away I developed various systems, turned charts into bowls of spaghetti, and traded bare charts. I developed complex indicators, each using the same data - price and time. I failed and I learned, I failed and I learned. I don't fail anymore. After a period of success, at the request of a friend, I overcame numerous government and financial regulatory hurdles and founded an alternative investment company, CTA (Commodity Trading Advisor). I used my now proven methods to make some rich people even richer. I hate this industry too. So I quit and returned to my home office, my sanctuary, and trading independently.

My method is not complicated. I use some standard indicators with no customization. I have some ironclad rules and I stick to them. Using this method, I don't trade every day (I have other ways to day trade), but the method I'm going to describe is the method I've used to build an incredible business, and it's still my preferred method for generating the majority of my income. I call this "trend cycle entry."

The chart below is the daily chart.
index:

  1. average reed candle
  2. 15-period EMA (white)
  3. 50 period SMA (green)
  4. Bollinger Bands – 20/2 (blue)
  5. Stochastic RSI - Stochastic=10, K=3, D=3, RSI=13 (lower pane)

Trade until the 15 EMA crosses the 50 SMA. Once this happens, you will wait for a reverse cycle (retracement) where the candle moves to the opposite Bollinger Band and then disconnects from it. The 15 EMA needs to maintain separation from the 50 SMA. Stochastic RSI also requires periods that are opposite to the previous price movement (above/below 80/20) - again, the first period is in line with the price movement. A trigger candle is a candle that has a different color than the retracement at the close. The entry point is located at the opening price of the next candle.

rule:

  1. Only perform the first cycle after the crossover - the second and third cycles are riskier
  2. The price must intersect the BB line
  3. The price must move away from the BB line
  4. 15 EMA and 50 SMA maintain separation
  5. The candle must change from green to red/red to green
  6. Stochastic RSI must be in the first period above or below 80/20 or cross 80/20 to support the trade direction.

The leftmost trade on the chart (white arrow) is an example of a long trade entry:

  1. 15 EMA breaks above 50 SMA
  2. Price retraces and intersects line BB
  3. The price breaks away from the BB line
  4. The candle is still green. The next candle closes in red
  5. Stochastic RSI is below 20% and rising
  6. Good MA separation

I enter the opening price of the candle after the red candle closes. I set a trailing stop, which I tighten as the trade progresses. The closing price was 528 points. Other arrows are shorts.

Several of my example trades occurred during the second period of the Stochastic RSI. This violates the "first cycle" rule and is a slightly riskier trade. But I'm showing them as examples anyway.

I'm not on this forum every day, but when I am here I answer questions that come up. I don't have MT4 documentation for this. I use transaction view. I also use these standard metrics because, believe it or not, standard metrics are what most institutional professionals use. The simpler, the better. Once a trade is profitable, I would not use a stop loss other than a trailing stop.

This method can be used for smaller time frames. It becomes even more important to follow the rules, respect higher timeframe trends, and anticipate smaller runs that require closer management.

enjoy!
