Dear ladies, gentlemen, and fellow retail traders:
"PVSRA" stands for Price, Volume, S&R Analysis. Now, PVSRA has its own thread and a new beginning. Article 1 is an introduction to the topic and will contain links to important content. It will change over time. Keep yourself up to date. See post #1 regularly.
It's a new beginning, but not just for PVSRA. It is for all of you,...as it has always been for all of you. This is your thread. As always, I'll be here just to be the caretaker of the follow-up work. And, I assure you, I have no commercial intentions whatsoever, everything here will be freely provided and shared in the spirit of retail traders helping retail traders so that we can all experience growing success and God's blessings in helping others.
This topic is a new textbook for PVSRA. A good textbook has clear text and illustrations. Please be proud of this new textbook and take care to make your posts well explained and crystal clear. Some people will read these posts months or even years later. So does your post mean something to them? The posting etiquette here is best suited for this new textbook. Introduction to PVSRA <br> So, let's start with an overview of PVSRA. More will be transcribed here over time, but for now that's it. I want to break it down and briefly describe each part. All right?
Price - Some say "price action is king". I said, we have no way of knowing how the MM (market maker) will adjust the price next. But when MM fills SM (smart money) short orders and DM (dumb money) long orders, the price tends to consolidate above the key SR; and when MM fills SM long orders and DM short orders, the price tends to consolidate below the key SR. MMs are also "SM", and they are often "better" than other SMs! This means that after MMs fill SM/DM orders, they may move the price further in an attempt to block some of those SM-executed orders and suck in more DMs; both provide liquidity to MMs to add to their own SM-side positions. Yes, girls are assholes. But the point is, price may no longer be "well" above or below SR, but more consolidation may occur.
Volume - Increased activity indicates increased interest. But is it long interest or short interest? When this happens, where is the price in the wider range? Is the overall price trend at a relative high or low? If a candle has a high volume bar, you can check it by looking at the lower TF chart and you may see where the highest volume (high or low) is in the spread for that candle! Using volume means paying attention to relative increases in volume and simultaneous changes in price. As MM Waffles prices move up and down, does increased volume favor lower or higher prices? Does volume become particularly significant when market makers believe the price is above or below the key SR?
S&R - Read all about S&R at Baby Pips.com. What I want you to realize is that the whole, half and quarter numbered price levels (hereinafter referred to as "levels") are the most important SRs in this market! Not because price stops, pauses, continues or reverses there, but because above or below these levels, important consolidations occur (MM fills SM orders). Once the SM long order is filled, they will be interested in placing an order to close the position at a higher price, so the MM will eventually push the price higher. Once the SM short order is filled, they will be interested in placing an order to close the position at a lower price, so the MM will eventually drive the price down.
PVSRA - If we can spot consolidation above/below the key SR, examine the overall price action on various TF charts, and note where significant increases in volume have occurred recently (whether the volume favored relative highs or lows), then we can come to a consensus on the type of order the MM has executed recently; buy to open a long or close a short, or sell to open a short or close a long. We can get a better idea of whether the next move is bullish or bearish. Once PA confirms our bullish or bearish PVSRA result, by recognizing the importance of the levels, we can look beyond the current direction of PA and focus on historical PA S&R (consolidation around key levels) to come up with candidates for where the price is likely to go. Bull or bear market swings usually run in the form of 100+, 150+, 200+ points, etc. Now you know why.
OK Now, if this is your first introduction to PVSRA and you just read the above, you may be scratching your head and still confused. This is normal. I'll tell you a secret about the markets and why you have the right to be confused. The secret is this. Markets cannot be defined by mathematics or hard-and-fast logic. That's why the most advanced mathematicians in more than a century never came close to opening the market. it's out of the question. There is something else besides mathematics and immutable logic that is the fundamental operand of the market. Have you ever seen a child try a jigsaw puzzle for the first time? Watching that kid grow up and try more, more complex things? I'll elaborate more on how the market works later, but for now, trust me. We need to devote ourselves to learning how to do PVSRA, just like a child learning how to do a jigsaw puzzle. We have to keep doing PVSRA because when we just pick up an important piece of the puzzle, our brain "learns" in time and we know where it's going! Developing PVSRA skills is an art. We must never allow ourselves to feel bad if we miss a clue. PVSRA is an art form that takes time to perfect. Over time, our skills will grow and our "reading" of unpredictable markets will improve. We must continue to learn and apply PVSRA .
An introduction to how markets really work <br> Does anyone remember the "Little Abner" cartoon in the Sunday paper? Let me paint you a mental picture of how the market really works…
Imagine Papa Yokum driving a wagon, racing hard up and down steep inclines and downhill slopes on a rough, rocky mountain road with sharp turns and a sheer cliff on one side. The wagon wheels were spewing rocks from the cliffside! Even Yoakum's father's shotgun would go off due to the vibration of the carriage! Papa Yoakum has a crazy look on his face, but he's smiling! The horse had wild eyes and foaming at the mouth. There were two passengers in the back of the carriage who were tossed around and terrified! Now, let's pan from this cartoon image and place the desired labels. There is a "Market Pricing" sign on the side of the carriage. Dad Yoakum, with his crazy smile, is the market maker. The passengers being tossed around are buyers and sellers.
.....knew? Market prices are not determined by buyers and sellers. They are determined by robber bank market makers (MMs).
MM is a market manipulator and a thief!
The “market” is the sole creation of the robber banks that “make the market.” Although it serves the business world, they run it for profit. They open the market and facilitate large amounts of currency trading by others with the sole purpose of making more profits. They "create liquidity" by moving prices up and down to fill SM (Smart Money) and DM (Dumb Money) orders, and earn commissions by filling orders. When their orders are some above the current price and some below the current price, who do you think decides the direction and distance the price will move in order so that those orders can be executed? And invariably - because they know how the price will change next - they open positions themselves to make extra profits.
They do this by:
1. Manipulate prices and attract market DMs who take the wrong stance.
2. Manipulate the price to enter the market. SM takes the right position, but it is too early, and then manipulates the price to reach the stop loss.
They have complete control over pricing and through these actions they effectively "steal" funds from others to fill their own "right" positions and then move the price to the next area where they decide to execute the order and profit from the pre-established position. Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against the market volatility caused by these bank robbers. We need it. But we also need to understand what these people were like and what cloth they were cut from. They are scammers and we must be extremely careful when trading on the markets they operate. On some special days, you can see them for what they are. We should witness it. Please pay attention to it. Let’s talk about it. And remember it!
So, it makes sense that we must be careful about scammers riding the coattails of this market!
PVSRA Templates and Indicators
This only applies to the MetaQuotes MT4 trading platform. It is not available for the MT5 platform and there are currently no plans to make it available for MT5.
At the bottom of the 1st article you will find the latest available zip file containing sample templates as well as supporting indicators for black and white charts. Download the zip file. Extract it to generate two folders of black and white charts, which contain files for indicators and templates. Paste the indicator files into the MT4/MQL4/Indicators folder. Make sure that indicators go into the MQL4/Indicators folder. Click File/Open Data Folder/MQL4/Indicators to access this folder from the open MT4 platform. If your operating system is Windows 7 or 8 and you have difficulty with indicators/templates, right click on the MT4 icon -> Properties -> Compatibility win xp sp3. Paste the template files into the MT4/Templates folder. Restart your MT4 application.
- For information on the use of the indicator's basic functionality, definitions, and changes from previous versions, please read the user notes at: https://pvsraininternationalwithtrader...p?p=2179#p2179 These user notes provide guidance, information, and avoid having to answer the same questions repeatedly for "newbies", which we would not do anyway. Therefore, hereby remind you! Read user comments and try external input for these indicators instead of asking questions! Below is a brief summary.
#1 Trade Levels – This indicator replaces the need to display MT4’s built-in trading levels, which make charts cluttered and uncustomizable. Our indicator shows trade entry points and levels, the average level of all EPs (variable sizes allowed) and your TP and SL levels. Lines are color-coded and include labels (including profit/loss labels), making the chart clearer while providing better information to help you manage your trades.
#2 Access Panel - This indicator gives you access to many charting features, including a clock, special bid and ask lines, horizontal display, "natural" Fibonacci, adjustable pivots for time zones, daily and weekly range H/L markers (fixed and floating), special vertical day separators, and v-lines marking the beginning and end of important markets for the day. Please note that you will find that some of the features mentioned here are "off" on the sample templates. You must open it using the external input provided. The indicator has many external inputs for customization. Daylight saving time considerations are fully automatic. Correct chart display does not rely on real-time data feeds. This indicator has a key setup procedure that users must follow in order to correctly position the market open/close vLines based on your broker's server time zone settings! Read the user instructions on our home page and follow the simple instructions !
#3 News Panel - This indicator lists 7 scheduled events. Right-click anywhere in the display to cycle through low, medium, and high impact events. "
#4 Trend Set - This indicator offers 2 ways to display the "dragon": solid color configuration or 3 lines. Two additional line trends are also drawn , which can also be adjusted based on period and type.
#5 Candle Suit - This indicator plots candlesticks highlighted by PVA (Price Volume Analysis).
#6 Volume Set - This indicator plots a PVA (Price Volume Analysis) volume histogram or a standard volume histogram in the first chart sub-window. An alarm option signals when a "climax" PVA situation occurs. It also has settings for the desired volume window height on zoomed out charts.
#7 Symbol Set - This indicator is located at the bottom of the chart and displays buttons for the selected Market Watch symbol set. Four symbol sets are provided. Each can be repurposed/personalized. The buttons show by color: (1) whether a pending order was placed (yellow button border) and (2) whether the executed order resulted in a profit or loss (green or red button body). When changing the contents of a market quote symbol within the four symbol sets provided, you must be very careful when entering new symbols exactly as they appear in the MT4 Market Watch List!
Acknowledgments - I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the following people for their efforts in making our indicator the most advanced one possible. We express our gratitude for their work:
" Caveman " - A generous contribution to TzPivots coding that has been carried forward since the early days of the THV thread.
" Idea4life " - For his clock, we base the clock and vLine controls and TzPivots through daylight saving time transitions. He also helped speed up v2.3.
" Fish " - for our trading levels indicator, material and key tickers in chart scales, tickers in our trend/candlestick/volume suite indicators and works on FFCal.
" De Vries " - for recoding file handling in our FFCal indicator so that it works properly on MT4 Build 600+.
" Astertrad " - for functionality added in FFCal, as well as other recent modifications to the file handling code.
besides……
" MJA " - Used to code the news panel to resolve MT4 chart locking issues due to sponsors changing URLs, as well as provide a "click on chart" functionality to cycle through events.
Sample Template - The sample template (black and white chart) is just the start. Many different templates can be created by changing the external input of the indicator and resaving it with a different name. This is the recommended method to customize for yourself. Do not attempt to customize any charts other than the provided sample templates. Due to the complexities of how the order of our indicators affects the correct display of other indicators and how certain MT4 chart properties are set, you may encounter serious problems that you are not aware of!
NOTE: The zip file attached here is for PVSRA v2.4 as of 11-12-2023 . Please update! The template and indicator work with all brokers, time zones and DST shifts. Because the features are numerous and complex, please take some time to familiarize yourself with what each indicator does. Study the external inputs provided for each indicator! Follow the link given above and read the detailed user instructions available on our home page! Follow the instructions above for the special access panel settings to ensure proper placement of the various market open/close vLines! Do your homework instead of asking questions!
