DMI by Tushar Chande - MetaTrader 5 Script - MT4/MT5 Resources

Definition of “Dynamic Momentum Index”
An indicator used in technical analysis to determine overbought and oversold conditions for a specific asset. This indicator is very similar to the Relative Strength Index (RSI). The main difference between the two is that the RSI uses a fixed number of time periods (usually 14), while the Dynamic Momentum Index uses different periods of time volatility changes.
"Dynamic Momentum Index" explained
The indicator is interpreted in the same way as the RSI, where readings below 30 are considered oversold and levels above 70 are considered oversold and overbought. The number of time periods used in the dynamic momentum index decreases and increases as the underlying asset moves, making the indicator more responsive to price changes than the Relative Strength Index (RSI).
This version has additional smoothing in the form of using RSX calculations instead of the original RSI. It was added to make it more readable. The original Chande's DMI did not have this smoothed version and could cause more false signals. Using rsx instead of rsi does not add any latency at all, so we can say that using rsx instead of RSI falls under the "1% improvement" rule - certainly no worse than the original Chande's DMI.

Testing and risk control suggestions

cannot. EAs, indicators and scripts can only be used as trading tools, and the results depend on parameters, market environment, spreads, slippage and risk control.
