T3 speed is not T3-smoothed speed—it's a completely new metric that uses T3 to calculate speed.
Speed itself is a smoother form of momentum, and using T3 can make it even smoother. It includes the original Tim Tillson calculation as well as the modified Fulks/Matulich calculation. It is often chosen to add 20 prices and gradient shading to make it easier to determine momentum.
