Even though the values are "very similar" to the original MACD, the values can differ significantly - see example: the lower one is the "regular" MACD, and it is clear that it differs significantly in certain periods of the normalized version's increased volatility (not just with regard to the value, but the slope as well as the signal value).
The rules for its use should be the same as for regular MACD, but some experimentation is recommended.
